Back into the Routine!
Marian August 14th, 2006
School started last week for my son, Roy. He was quite pleased to be baack into a regular routine.
Autistic children and adults alike, are more comfortable when their lives are structured. At home, we try not to have a real structure. We do have our daily routines, like preparing meals at specific times, and giving medication at the same time each day (save weekends).
Now that school has resumed and we are getting therapy sessions scheduled to accommodate the school day, we are working our way back into our routine!
It means busy afternoons for me, as I would be happy to stay at home and work on my various projects. But, I would be doing Roy a dis-service if I didn’t pursue every opportunity for him, so he can improve to his full potential.
